Myllykoski's new star

On December 1st 2007, Plattling Papier began production of premium uncoated SC papers for magazines, catalogues and supplements. Next to the existing Myllykoski mill, MD Plattling, now stands one of the most modern paper mills worldwide, covering 11,000 square meters. Plattling Papier is the first mill in the world to make use of the moisture gradient calendering technique combined with pressurized groundwood.

The alliance partner Rhein Papier’s new mill has an annual capacity of 380,000 tonnes, which increases the total capacity of the Plattling site to approximately 800,000 tonnes.

Built in record time

Plattling Papier’s history began with a construction project that was completed in record time:
after breaking ground in November 2006, it took only 13 months until production was started up at the new mill.
