Environmental co-operation
Environmental co-operation is part of the daily activities at Myllykoski Paper. The various departments have their own appointed environmental representatives. The environmental committee, where the representatives of various employee groups meet, operates as an efficient communicator, developer and promoter of co-operation.
Myllykoski Paper carries on versatile environmental co-operation with various instances. These include our customers, the Finnish Forest Industries Federation, the Kymijoki Water Protection Association, universities and research centres and neighbouring municipalities and industrial companies.
Environmental research and development projects
In 1999, Myllykoski Paper participated in developing the operations of a local waste management organisation (Kymenlaakson Jäte Oy) and in the Cactus research programme studying paper mills' water cycles, which was sponsored by the National Technology Agency. The mill also studied the reuse of ash in connection with a national gravel road improvement programme and in surface layers of landfill sites, and carried out a water supply service project for the mill's landfill site and neighbouring residents in co-operation with the town of Anjalankoski and the Regional Environment Centre of Southeast Finland.Myllykoski Paper is participating also in co-operation project between Finnish Forest Industries Federation and University of Jyväskylä relation in odors at forest industry.
